Traditional Ceramic Making Techniques

Although modern technology has advanced into the era of 3D computer printing, traditional ceramic making techniques will continue to hold a significant position in ceramic art creation. The most common forming techniques for traditional ceramic artworks fall into three main categories: hand-building techniques, wheel-throwing techniques, and mold-making techniques.

In ceramic art education, hand-building techniques can be further divided into three methods: pinch forming, coil forming, and slab forming. Shaping a small lump of clay into an animal or human figure is often the first step for many children learning pottery. Alternatively, pre-formed ceramic semi-finished products can be directly decorated with decals to create exquisite artworks.

This project focuses on the production of ceramic trays, which can serve as decorative crafts or as tea set trays.
